Whiteboards
Brainstorm, diagram, and collaborate visually with a freeform canvas and a full set of drawing tools.
Visual Thinking, Built In
Whiteboards give you an infinite canvas to sketch ideas, map out processes, and collaborate visually — all without leaving your workspace. Whether you're brainstorming with sticky notes or drawing a system diagram, the whiteboard has the tools you need.
Creating a Whiteboard
- From the sidebar — Click New Whiteboard to open a blank canvas.
- From a conversation — Ask the AI to create one:
Create a whiteboard called "Product Roadmap Brainstorm"
Drawing Tools
The toolbar along the edge of the whiteboard gives you access to everything you need:
| Tool | What It Does |
|---|---|
| Select | Click to select, move, and resize objects on the canvas |
| Pan | Drag to move around the canvas without selecting anything |
| Draw | Freehand drawing with pen, highlighter, and brush modes |
| Eraser | Remove strokes and objects |
Shapes
Add structured shapes to your whiteboard to build diagrams, flowcharts, and layouts:
- Rectangle — great for boxes, cards, and containers
- Circle — useful for nodes, highlights, and emphasis
- Triangle — for directional indicators and diagrams
- Diamond — commonly used for decision points in flowcharts
- Line and Arrow — connect ideas and show direction
Each shape can be customized with fill colors, stroke colors, stroke width, and optional labels.
Text and Sticky Notes
- Text — add text anywhere on the canvas with customizable font size, color, weight, and alignment
- Sticky Notes — drop color-coded sticky notes (yellow, green, blue, pink, orange, purple) for brainstorming and quick annotations. Resize them and type directly inside.
Sticky notes are perfect for brainstorming sessions. Use different colors to represent categories, team members, or priority levels.
Connectors and Frames
- Connectors — draw lines between objects to show relationships. Connectors can be straight or curved, with optional arrows on either end. They snap to anchor points on shapes and sticky notes.
- Frames — group related content inside a labeled frame. Frames act as containers to keep sections of your whiteboard organized.
Images, Icons, and Stamps
- Images — drag and drop images onto the canvas, or use the image tool to upload one
- Icons — pick from a built-in icon library to add visual markers and symbols
- Stamps — drop emoji stamps for quick visual markers and reactions
Layers
The Layers Panel lets you manage the stacking order of objects on your canvas. You can:
- Reorder layers to bring objects forward or send them behind others
- Lock layers to prevent accidental edits
- Toggle layer visibility to hide or show groups of content
Collaboration
Whiteboards are shared across your workspace. Team members can view and contribute to the same canvas. Use whiteboards for:
- Real-time brainstorming sessions
- Collaborative diagramming
- Visual planning and mapping
Embedding Content
You can reference other workspace items from your whiteboard:
- Drop images and screenshots for visual context
- Use text blocks to link to documents and databases
- Organize related whiteboards in folders for easy access
Templates
Click the Templates button to start from a pre-built layout instead of a blank canvas. Templates give you a head start on common use cases like mind maps, flowcharts, and retrospectives.
