Multiplayer Conversations

Collaborate with your team in real-time AI conversations with shared context and live presence.

Overview

Multiplayer conversations let you and your teammates work together in the same AI chat in real time. Everyone sees the same messages, can ask follow-up questions, and benefits from the shared context. It works like a group chat where the AI is a participant.

Sharing a Conversation

To invite someone to a conversation:

  1. Open the conversation you want to share.
  2. Click the Share button in the top-right corner.
  3. Enter a teammate's email address or select them from the list.
  4. They will get access immediately and can join the conversation.
Tip

You can share a conversation at any point -- even after a long exchange. New participants will see the full message history so they can catch up on the context.

Real-Time Collaboration

When multiple people are in the same conversation, you will see:

  • Presence indicators -- colored dots or avatars showing who is currently viewing the conversation.
  • Typing indicators -- a notice when a teammate is composing a message, so you do not talk over each other.
  • Live messages -- new messages from teammates and AI responses appear instantly for everyone, with no need to refresh.

All participants share the same conversation context, so the AI remembers what everyone has said and can reference earlier messages from any participant.

Using @Mentions

Type @ followed by a teammate's name to mention them in a message. Mentions help when you want to:

  • Direct a question to a specific person
  • Draw someone's attention to an important AI response
  • Tag a colleague for follow-up on a task

Mentioned users receive a notification so they know to check the conversation.

Roles and Permissions

Each conversation has an owner (the person who created it) and members (everyone who was invited).

RoleWhat they can do
OwnerSend messages, view history, manage participants, delete the conversation
MemberSend messages, view full history, leave the conversation

The owner can add or remove members at any time. Members can leave a shared conversation whenever they choose.

How the AI Handles Multiple Participants

The AI treats a multiplayer conversation as a single, continuous thread. It does not distinguish between participants when building context -- every message from every person is part of the same discussion. This means:

  • The AI can reference something a teammate said earlier in the conversation.
  • Follow-up questions from any participant build on the full shared context.
  • Tool actions (like searching or creating documents) are visible to all participants.
Note

Actions the AI takes -- like creating a document or updating a database -- apply to the shared workspace. All participants with the right permissions will see the results.

Tips for Effective Collaboration

  • Divide and conquer. Have one person ask the AI to research a topic while another prepares related questions. The AI keeps all of it in context.
  • Use conversations as a shared workspace. When collaborating on a project, keep a single conversation going so the AI accumulates context over time.
  • Keep it focused. For best results, stick to one topic per conversation. Start a new conversation when you shift to a different project or task.
